Your Call is Confidential

Health Systems Management, Inc. recognizes that your personal health information in private. Any information that you share when you speak with a member of the patient advocacy staff will not be shared with anyone unless you specifically request that we share that information.

Your call is totally anonymous. No one will know that you called nor will they know what questions you asked.

Most people contact this confidential and voluntary resource when they are confronted with a serious, (sometimes life threatening) medical condition or injury. The medical condition may be "acute" (i.e., the serious diagnosis is completely unexpected; you may not even have felt ill before the diagnosis).

Examples of conditions that can be unexpected and serious include cancer, heart, lung, or neurological conditions, kidney or liver diseases, blood disorders, viral and bacterial infections and even rare conditions that you and your family never knew "existed."

Other people call Health Systems Management's patient advocates with questions about chronic medical problems. Chronic medical problems persist for a long time, i.e., more than three months.

Typically, chronic diseases cannot be prevented by vaccines or cured by medication, nor do they just disappear. Examples include diabetes, high blood pressure, heart failure, breathing problems, painful knees, sore backs, Parkinson's syndrome, Alzheimer's, and even cancer.

When their symptoms do not improve satisfactorily over time, patients often decide to explore the possibility of other treatments. Some question the accuracy or completeness of their diagnoses, particularly when the current treatment is not working. Still other patients call Health Systems Management when they hear about new treatments from friends or through the news media. And, we are always happy to point you to reliable Internet and other resources so that you can begin to conduct your own research.
